Tesla has officially halted production of the Model S and Model X, with the final units of both models rolling off the assembly line at its Fremont factory. The Model S, first introduced 14 years ago, and the Model X, launched 11 years ago, were once regarded as benchmarks in the new energy vehicle industry and played a pivotal role in establishing Tesla's brand identity. However, with the introduction of the Model 3 and Model Y, the market prominence of the Model S and Model X has gradually diminished, and their combined sales now account for only single-digit percentages of Tesla’s total annual deliveries. Data shows that in 2025, global deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y reached 1.6 million units, while total deliveries of "other models," including the Model S and Model X, amounted to approximately 50,000 units. Tesla plans to repurpose its Fremont factory for the production of its Optimus humanoid robots.
