NIO has announced the full completion of its battery swap route along the Hexi Corridor section of the Silk Road, spanning 1,739 kilometers and featuring 20 battery swap stations. With this segment now operational, NIO plans to complete the entire Silk Road battery swap corridor by the second half of this year. Once fully connected, users will be able to start from any NIO battery swap station nationwide and reach every provincial-level administrative region in mainland China using only battery swaps. This route leverages clean energy resources—such as wind and solar power—in Gansu Province and integrates the “storage, charging, swapping, and discharging” multifunctional capabilities of NIO’s swap stations to support greater utilization of renewable energy. To date, NIO has deployed a total of 8,855 charging and battery swap stations across China, including 3,842 battery swap stations and 5,013 charging stations. Of these, over 1,000 battery swap stations are located along expressways, forming a high-speed battery swap network covering nine north-south corridors, eleven east-west corridors, and 16 major urban clusters, connecting more than 550 cities nationwide. Since August 2023, NIO has successively completed several scenic battery swap routes, including the G318 Sichuan-Tibet route, the Western Sichuan Loop route, and the Yunnan-Tibet route, bringing the total number of “Power Scenic Routes” to 85.
