Geely and Ford plan to collaborate on electric vehicles (EVs) in the European market. Under the agreement, Ford will launch four new all-electric models in Europe between 2027 and 2030, all developed on Geely’s GEA global intelligent new energy architecture, abandoning Ford’s self-developed EV platform. In this partnership, Geely will be responsible for overall vehicle development, core component supply chain management, quality control systems, and manufacturing standards, while Ford will independently handle exterior and interior design, localize its in-vehicle infotainment system, and manage final delivery through its European sales network. Additionally, Geely plans to acquire Ford’s plant in Spain, which will produce Geely’s own-brand vehicles and serve as a contract manufacturer for Ford’s EVs—helping reduce upfront investment, accelerate mass production, and mitigate potential trade barriers. This collaborative model has previously been applied in Geely’s projects in South Korea and Brazil.
