Tesla has launched a pilot "Waitlist" feature at select Supercharger stations in the U.S. to address chaos and conflicts caused by queue-jumping during charging sessions. The feature is currently active at Supercharger sites in Los Gatos, Mountain View, San Francisco, and San Jose, California, as well as in the Bronx, New York (East Gun Hill Road). When drivers set a Waitlist-enabled Supercharger as their destination via in-car navigation, their vehicle is automatically added to a virtual queue. The Tesla app then sends real-time notifications to inform users of their current position in line and estimated wait time. A demonstration video showed two vehicles charging ahead in the queue, with an estimated wait time of less than five minutes. The feature is available to all vehicles using Tesla’s Supercharger network, including non-Tesla electric vehicles. Owners of these vehicles can also join the waitlist through the Tesla app. Tesla encourages users to provide feedback during this pilot phase to help refine the system before a wider rollout. The company stated it will decide whether to expand the feature based on operational data and user input gathered from the pilot program.
