Ultium Cells, the joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, plans to bring a small number of employees back to its electric vehicle battery plant in Warren, Ohio, during the week of May 25 to carry out work related to resuming operations later this year. The plant was idled for six months starting in January due to weak demand for electric vehicles, resulting in the layoff of approximately 850 workers. Employees were originally expected to return around June, but as of now, Ultium Cells has not confirmed a specific timeline for the facility’s full restart, stating that production resumption will depend on market demand for electric vehicles.
