Tesla is constructing a dedicated Cybercab washing and maintenance facility in Clark County, Nevada, near Las Vegas. Spanning approximately 33,450 square feet (about 3,108 square meters), the facility is designed to provide cleaning, charging, and basic maintenance services for Tesla’s future Robotaxi fleet. According to official documents, Tesla submitted a permit application on May 12 for the “Tesla Center Cybercab Phase 2 Car Wash Facility,” seeking approval to renovate an existing building both internally and externally. Planned upgrades include constructing a fully enclosed car wash structure, relocating tire service equipment, and installing new electrical conduit pathways. Because the Cybercab is a driverless vehicle, it cannot rely on manual cleaning of critical sensors—particularly cameras—and thus this facility will play a vital role in ensuring the vehicles operate continuously and safely. Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the Las Vegas project may be just one of the first such hubs, with similar plans already underway in Texas. These facilities are designed to achieve a high degree of automation in vehicle cleaning, charging, and minor maintenance tasks. In the future, Tesla’s Optimus robots could be deployed to handle physical labor, enabling round-the-clock, unattended operations. If the permitting process proceeds smoothly, this site could become the first infrastructure node supporting a large-scale, fully autonomous taxi network.
