Volkswagen officially unveiled the ID.Polo GTI during the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race, marking it as the brand’s first all-electric GTI model—timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original Golf GTI. Based on the ID.Polo, the vehicle features redesigned front and rear bumpers, a split rear spoiler, and GTI-specific vertical daytime running lights. It retains signature design cues such as the red accent strip beneath the matrix LED headlights and an illuminated full-width light bar across the front fascia. To enhance handling, the car sits lower than standard models and comes equipped with adaptive sport suspension and two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels. Red GTI badges appear on the wheel centers, ahead of the rear wheels, and on the tailgate. Inside, the cabin maintains a sporty character with extensive red accents, a GTI-branded steering wheel featuring a red 12 o’clock marker, and bolstered sport seats for improved lateral support. Physical buttons are retained, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central infotainment display. Powering the ID.Polo GTI is an electric motor producing 223 horsepower and 290 N·m of torque, paired with a standard electronically controlled front differential. The standard ID.Polo will be offered in three variants delivering 114 hp, 133 hp, and 208 hp respectively. The ID.Polo GTI has a curb weight of 1,540 kg, accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 175 km/h. A dedicated GTI drive mode preserves its aggressive powertrain and chassis settings. The vehicle is equipped with a 52 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated range of 424 kilometers. It supports DC fast charging at up to 105 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 24 minutes. Pricing starts at €39,000 (approximately RMB 310,000) in overseas markets; adding options like a panoramic sunroof, massage seats, Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires, and a Harman Kardon audio system pushes the price above €40,000 (approximately RMB 318,000).
