On May 16, Le Dao L80, a new model under NIO, officially launched with a final price only RMB 3,000 lower than its previously announced pre-sale price. Qin Lihong, Co-founder and President of NIO, stated during a media briefing that the vehicle’s pricing aligns with the company’s expectations, offering a reasonable but not excessive gross margin. He criticized the industry-wide practice of setting high pre-sale prices followed by significant discounts, calling such strategies meaningless. The Le Dao L80 is a five-seat variant of the L90, positioned as a mid-to-large all-electric SUV. It measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,786 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Its trunk offers a standard capacity of 1,200 liters, expandable to 2,600 liters when the second-row seats are fully folded down—reaching a depth of 2.2 meters, the largest among China’s mass-produced vehicles. The front trunk provides 240 liters of space, sufficient to accommodate two 20-inch suitcases, one children's suitcase, and one backpack. Additionally, the rear trunk features dual sunken storage compartments: a 106-liter outer recess and a 63-liter inner recess. In terms of performance, the L80 is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. All variants come standard with an 85 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 615 km (RWD) and 570 km (AWD), respectively. The vehicle also supports NIO’s three-minute battery swap capability.
