Tesla is advancing an infrastructure project in Clark County, Nevada—adjacent to Las Vegas—to convert an existing facility of approximately 33,000 square meters into a dedicated maintenance and cleaning center for its Cybercab autonomous ride-hailing vehicles. On May 12, the company submitted a permit application titled “Tesla Center Cybercab Phase II Car Wash” for the proposed renovation. The planned upgrades include constructing a fully enclosed, automated car-wash enclosure, relocating tire service equipment, installing high-power electrical conduits, and comprehensively renovating both the interior and exterior of the building. This facility is not a conventional car wash; rather, it is a critical operational hub specifically designed to support the Cybercab’s steering-wheel-free, fully autonomous features. It aims to carry out vehicle cleaning, charging, and basic maintenance through highly automated processes with minimal human intervention. Since Cybercabs rely on onboard sensors for operation, keeping components such as cameras clean is essential for driving safety. Las Vegas was selected as a testing site due to its high tourist traffic and wide roadways. Similar facility plans have also emerged in Texas. In the future, the center intends to deploy Optimus humanoid robots to perform physical tasks, enabling round-the-clock unmanned operations.
