On May 16, 2024, BYD announced that as of May 14, it had cumulatively built 5,979 ultra-fast charging stations across 312 cities nationwide. Between May 7 and May 14, 2024, the company added 55 new ultra-fast charging stations. In March 2024, BYD launched its second-generation Blade Battery and ultra-fast charging technology. The accompanying ultra-fast chargers are the world’s highest-power single-gun mass-produced charging units, with a peak power output of 1,500 kW. Vehicles equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes and reach 97% in nine minutes. Even in extremely cold conditions of -30°C, charging from 20% to 97% takes approximately 12 minutes—only three minutes longer than under normal temperatures. BYD is simultaneously advancing its "Ultra-Fast Charging China Strategy," aiming to build a total of 20,000 ultra-fast charging stations by the end of 2024, including 18,000 urban stations and 2,000 highway stations.
