Xiaomi Auto has announced that the YU7 GT will officially launch on May 21 at 19:00. According to multiple sources, Xiaomi plans to bring in China Aviation Lithium Battery (CALB) as a new battery supplier for its internally codenamed “Kunlun” model. This vehicle was previously rumored to be the YU9 but will no longer carry the “YU9” name or feature Xiaomi’s main brand logo. Instead, it will fall under Xiaomi’s newly established independent sub-brand, “Xuntian.” The Xuntian brand targets the family, long-distance travel, and outdoor mobility markets, differentiating itself from Xiaomi’s main brand, which focuses on high-performance pure-electric vehicles. Its debut model, the “Kunlun N3,” is a range-extended SUV scheduled for launch in the second half of 2024 and will serve as the brand’s flagship offering. Additional range-extended SUVs—including the Kunlun 10, Kunlun 20, and Kunlun 30—are also planned, along with a roof-raising outdoor RV codenamed “Isle of Man,” positioned above the Kunlun series. Xiaomi filed to register the “Xuntian” trademark in April 2023 and submitted an application for the English trademark “SKYNOMAD” in November 2024. Both cover transportation vehicles, with some trademarks already registered and granted a 10-year exclusive right period. In terms of battery supply, the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 currently use batteries from CATL (primary supplier) and FinDreams Battery (secondary supplier), with CATL accounting for over 80% of the supply. For the “Kunlun” models, Xiaomi initially designated Sunwoda as the battery supplier in early 2024 and later added CALB as a secondary supplier, with current allocation split at 60% for Sunwoda and 40% for CALB. Xiaomi Auto recently completed senior leadership reshuffles: Song Gang has been appointed Vice President of the Automotive Division, overseeing production, intelligent manufacturing, and operational systems, reporting directly to Lei Jun while continuing to serve as Chief of Staff. Yu Liguo now concurrently leads the Overseas Business Preparatory Group, reporting dually to Lei Jun and Lu Weibing. Song Gang previously served as Senior Director of Manufacturing, Vice President, and Plant Manager at Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai and joined Xiaomi in April 2024. In sales performance, Xiaomi Auto delivered over 30,000 vehicles in April 2024, a 50% month-over-month increase and a new monthly record. Total deliveries for the first four months of 2024 exceeded 109,000 units, up 11% year-over-year. Cumulative deliveries reached over 656,000 units by April 2026. The SU7, Xiaomi’s first model launched in March 2024, saw over 380,000 units delivered across its first generation, while initial orders for the next-generation SU7 surpassed 80,000 units. In 2025, Xiaomi Auto generated RMB 103.3 billion in revenue, accounting for 22.6% of the group’s total revenue, with a gross margin of 24.3%, marking its first annual operating profit of RMB 900 million.
