On May 21, 2024, Tesla held a delivery event at its Fremont factory for the limited-edition Model S and Model X Signature series. This exclusive release comprises 350 units in total—250 Model S and 100 Model X vehicles—all in Plaid trim. Sales were conducted by invitation only, with no public ordering available on Tesla’s official website. Tesla also announced it will cease production of these flagship models, which have been in production since 2012, in the second quarter of 2026. The limited-edition vehicles feature an exclusive Garnet Red exterior paint, complemented by gold Tesla emblems, gold Plaid badging, and Signature-specific details. The Model S comes standard with a carbon-ceramic braking system and gold calipers, while the Model X is equipped with 22-inch Machina wheels and configured with a six-seat layout. The interior is trimmed in black-and-white Alcantara upholstery with gold stitching, along with bespoke badging, custom welcome plates, special key fobs, and unique lighting sequences. The final Model S Signature Plaid (unit #250/250) was delivered to investor Steve Jurvetson, who also received the very first Model S back in 2012.
