Ford Motor (China) Limited has filed a recall plan with China's State Administration for Market Regulation, initiating a recall effective immediately of 7,133 imported Explorer vehicles produced between October 1, 2017, and October 4, 2018, covering model years 2017 to 2019. This recall expands upon a previous recall announced on July 8, 2022. In certain vehicles within the recall scope, when operated in winter conditions with high concentrations of road de-icing agents, the ball joint of the rear suspension toe link may become severely corroded, leading to binding and potentially causing the link to fracture. This could impair steering control and increase the risk of a collision. Ford Motor (China) Limited will, through its authorized dealers, replace the affected rear suspension toe links with improved parts free of charge and inspect and adjust the rear wheel toe alignment to eliminate the safety hazard.
