Tesla has officially renamed its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature in China to "Tesla Assisted Driving," removing any references to "full self-driving." The official price remains unchanged at RMB 64,000. The updated feature integrates core capabilities from both the Basic and Enhanced Autopilot packages, offering comprehensive assisted driving functions across various scenarios, including city street navigation assistance, automatic lane changes, on/off-ramp handling, traffic light recognition with stop-and-go functionality, automatic parking, and Smart Summon. Tesla explicitly states that the system is a Level 2 supervised advanced driver assistance system, requiring drivers to remain fully attentive and maintain control of the vehicle at all times. This renaming responds to requirements from Chinese regulators. According to joint regulations issued in February 2026 by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), L2 intelligent driving assistance systems sold domestically must not use potentially misleading terms such as “fully automatic” or “autonomous driving.” Product names must clearly reflect their “assisted driving” nature to mitigate safety risks arising from user overreliance. Additionally, Tesla has added its Supervised FSD to the list of features available in China, making it accessible simultaneously with markets outside China, including the United States, Canada, and South Korea. This naming adjustment has also cleared regulatory hurdles for the rollout of FSD version 14 in the Chinese market.
