Chinese-made electric three-wheelers have recently drawn attention in European countries such as Spain. These vehicles are now appearing on local streets, offering sightseeing passenger services at a rate of €30 per hour (approximately RMB 236), a price comparable to some premium gasoline-powered ride-hailing services. According to on-the-ground reports, the same models sell locally for around €20,000 (approximately RMB 160,000). Operating these vehicles legally in central Madrid requires obtaining a specialized driver’s license, presenting a relatively high entry barrier. Moreover, domestically produced low-speed electric vehicles are seeing expanding use across Europe—not only among seniors but also gaining popularity among young people and middle-class families. Some households have even purchased these vehicles for their high-school-aged children for daily commuting. Observers have spotted displays and active use of such models in shopping centers and streets across multiple locations in Italy, France, and Spain over the past six months.
