Lamborghini has decided to indefinitely postpone its fully electric vehicle project. The Lanzador, a pure-electric concept car originally slated for launch in 2028 and later delayed to 2029, now has no confirmed release date and will definitely not reach the market before 2030. The company stated it is shifting its focus toward plug-in hybrid models, with its entire current lineup now consisting of plug-in hybrids. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, explained that existing customers have shown no increased acceptance of fully electric vehicles, and that large-scale investment in pure-electric development at this stage would violate principles of financial responsibility and would not serve the interests of shareholders, customers, or employees. He emphasized that each brand should formulate its electrification strategy based on its own specific circumstances. Despite shelving its pure-electric plans, Lamborghini will continue developing its fourth model, the Lanzador. Featuring a 2+2 seating layout and currently in the engineering development phase, the vehicle’s design still retains the possibility of accommodating an internal combustion engine.
