On May 31, the head of Li Auto's product line explained via social media the differences in suspension systems between the new Li L9 Ultra and L9 Livis models. The L9 Ultra is equipped with a third-generation dual-chamber, dual-valve "Magic Carpet" air suspension system, featuring four air springs and four dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers, along with a standard wire-controlled "Magic Carpet" chassis. This system can deactivate one chamber when needed, switching to single-chamber mode to increase stiffness by 30%, effectively reducing body roll and the "boat-like" sensation. As the top-tier variant, the L9 Livis adopts an 800V fully active suspension system with single-chamber air springs. This design is not a cost-cutting measure but instead achieves effective roll control through its fully active suspension architecture. Each wheel delivers over 10,000 newtons of lift force, eliminating the need for a dual-chamber stiff mode or conventional anti-roll bars. By removing the anti-roll bar, vertical (Z-axis) movement of the left and right wheels becomes fully decoupled, significantly enhancing off-road traction and handling performance—delivering true four-wheel independent active suspension control.
