On May 28, 2024, BYD announced the launch of its self-developed automotive-grade "Xuanji A3" chip, fabricated on a 4-nanometer process node and delivering approximately 700 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of computing power per chip. The chip will support intelligent driver-assistance systems (ADAS) in BYD vehicles. As China's ADAS market rapidly expands, several new energy vehicle manufacturers have begun developing their own in-house automotive computing chips. XPeng Motors first deployed its self-developed "Turing" chip in July 2025 and largely completed the transition of its core models to its proprietary chip by April 2026. BYD’s release of the "Xuanji A3" marks its official entry into the field of self-developed automotive computing chips.
