On October 2, 2025, a rear-end collision occurred on the Jiguang Expressway involving a Changan Qiyuan A07 and a heavy-duty semi-trailer truck, resulting in three fatalities. The vehicle involved was a 2024-model Changan Qiyuan A07 equipped with the first-generation IACC (Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control) system, an L2-level driver assistance feature designed for use on well-maintained highways with clear visibility. The automaker noted that under adverse conditions such as rain, fog, dust, or insufficient nighttime lighting, the system may fail to detect obstacles ahead and initiate braking. According to an accident investigation report released by the Ganzhou Emergency Management Bureau on May 21, 2025, the incident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. local time. The semi-trailer truck had been illegally parked in the fast lane of the expressway, and the section of road lacked street lighting. Data from the vehicle’s Event Data Recorder (EDR) showed that the A07 driver did not hold the steering wheel during the 13 seconds preceding the collision. Although the IACC driver assistance function was activated, neither the driver nor the system applied effective braking measures. The investigation concluded that the direct causes of the accident were distracted driving by the A07 driver and the illegal parking of the semi-trailer truck in the travel lane. Both drivers were jointly held directly responsible for the crash. Changan Qiyuan stated that it respects the findings of the regulatory authorities’ investigation report and urged the public to approach online rumors rationally.
