Tesla FSD Supervised Granted Temporary Approval in Denmark, Fourth EU Country to Approve

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-06-10 07:30:07

Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) has received temporary road approval from the Danish Road Directorate. This authorization is based on Denmark’s adoption of a vehicle type approval issued by the Dutch Vehicle Authority in April 2024, permitting vehicles equipped with Tesla’s fourth-generation Autopilot hardware (HW4) to use the supervised version of FSD on public roads in Denmark. The current version deployed is FSD v14, specifically tailored for the European market and adjusted to comply with local traffic regulations in terms of interface and functionality. Danish authorities stated that after a thorough review of technical documentation, they concurred with the Dutch regulator’s conclusion that the system can assist drivers and positively contribute to road safety, thereby recognizing the temporary type approval. However, this approval is provisional: should the European Commission subsequently reject the software, the Dutch certification will expire within six months, and all nationally granted authorizations—including Denmark’s—will be automatically revoked. To date, the supervised version of FSD has been approved in 12 regions: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, and Denmark. Among these, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, and Denmark are the four EU member states that have authorized the system. Other EU countries are also advancing their respective approval processes: Belgium is accelerating its national assessment, Sweden has expanded the scope of on-road public testing, and Latvia has made regulatory progress. As the European Union has not yet established a unified certification framework for autonomous driving software, individual member states currently retain the authority to decide whether to accept type approvals issued by other countries.
