On June 12, Lei Jun posted a video documenting his visit to the Jiangsu Yancheng automotive test facility to show appreciation to engineers. The video showed that he brought along 1,000 jin (approximately 500 kg) of cherries, with one Xiaomi YU7 GT loaded with 120 boxes (about 600 jin). The vehicle’s front trunk, rear trunk, and back seats were all packed with cherries, drawing widespread online attention. In response, Lei Jun addressed the matter during a live stream on June 13, explaining that the cherries had been delivered to the test facility by truck and were then transferred short distances within the enclosed facility using the vehicle in question. He emphasized that this activity took place entirely within the closed-off site. Xu Jieyun, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Xiaomi Group and Deputy General Manager of the Strategic Marketing Department, further clarified that the Yancheng test facility is a fully enclosed campus inaccessible to outside vehicles. Spanning over 10,000 mu (approximately 1,650 acres), the facility requires cherries to be distributed across multiple zones, making vehicle transport the most convenient option.
