Waymo has acquired a 5,500-acre testing facility in Wittmann, Arizona, for $220 million, with the transaction officially recorded on June 5. The seller was a Delaware-based shell company linked to Apple. The site includes a 115-acre urban road testing area, a 35-acre vehicle dynamics testing zone, a four-mile-long oval track, and highway scenarios specifically designed for autonomous driving tests. Originally owned by Fiat Chrysler, the facility was purchased by Apple in 2021 for $125 million to test prototypes under its "Project Titan," which was discontinued in early 2024.
