The 2026 XPeng X9 was unveiled on June 15, featuring a Driver Incapacitation Assistance System as standard across all trims. Designed specifically for scenarios where the driver suddenly becomes incapacitated during high-speed driving, the system can automatically take control of the vehicle if the driver is unable to operate it. Initially, the system attempts to alert and awaken the driver through multiple rounds of warnings. If three consecutive alerts fail to elicit a response, it automatically activates the hazard lights, gradually slows down the vehicle, and autonomously plans a route to pull over onto the emergency lane. Once stopped, the system triggers the E-Call emergency assistance function, which dials for help, transmits the vehicle’s location, and connects to a human operator who provides further support. The entire process operates without any manual intervention. Built upon XPeng’s VLA 2.0 intelligent driving capabilities, the system covers the complete chain—from alerting and vehicle takeover, to roadside parking and emergency calling.
