Recently, VOYAH Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. was granted an invention patent titled "Decision Control Method, Apparatus, Device, and Storage Medium for Automatic Overtaking Lane Change." This patent belongs to the field of autonomous driving planning and control technologies and aims to intelligently determine whether to execute an overtaking lane change by comprehensively evaluating the necessity of lane changing, traffic efficiency, and inhibition conditions. When the system detects that the speed of a vehicle ahead in the current lane falls below a preset low-speed threshold, it calculates whether a lane change for overtaking is necessary based on the host vehicle’s set speed, the preceding vehicle’s speed, and the time gap between vehicles. Simultaneously, the system assesses traffic volume and average speed in the target lane to evaluate post-lane-change traffic efficiency. Additionally, the system obtains inhibition conditions for overtaking lane changes and integrates all these factors to decide whether to issue a lane-change request. If predefined termination conditions are met during the execution of a lane change, the system will proactively cancel the maneuver. This mechanism effectively reduces unnecessary lane changes, thereby enhancing both the operational efficiency and safety of the autonomous driving system.
