Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the integration of the Grok voice assistant with the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system is expected to launch in approximately three months. This feature will allow users to directly configure FSD driving behavior through natural language commands, eliminating the need for manual inputs. Currently, the FSD system only supports lane changes or turns initiated by the driver using turn signals. Grok has been available as a beta in-vehicle assistant in Tesla vehicles in the U.S. since summer 2023 and has since gradually rolled out to Canada, Europe, and other regions. Recent software updates have already added several voice-control capabilities to Grok, including setting navigation waypoints, rerouting, “Hey Grok” voice wake-up, and location-based reminders. Once implemented, the FSD voice control feature will enable users to perform more precise autonomous driving operations via voice commands—particularly in automated parking scenarios, where they can issue specific instructions such as “back into the parking spot in front of the store” or “drive into my driveway,” overcoming the current limitations of predefined automatic parking modes. If development proceeds as planned, this feature will begin rolling out to all Tesla vehicles in the fall of 2024.
