BMW plans to launch an M Performance variant of its next-generation BMW iX3—the iX3 M60 xDrive (codenamed NA5)—scheduled to enter production in March 2027. The vehicle will feature a dual-motor setup delivering 620 to 630 horsepower, built on an 800V high-voltage architecture that enables a 10-minute charge to add up to 300 kilometers of range. It will also be equipped with M Adaptive Suspension. Additionally, the long-wheelbase version of the next-generation BMW iX3 will make its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in 2026 and go on sale in the second half of 2024. With a wheelbase of 3,005 mm—108 mm longer than the standard version—the extra length is entirely dedicated to enhancing rear passenger space. The vehicle measures 4,885 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, and features semi-recessed door handles exclusive to the Chinese market, incorporating a combined electric and physical switch mechanism. It also includes a triple-redundant power system comprising direct high-voltage battery supply, a 12-volt auxiliary battery backup, and a mechanical fail-safe structure. Built on BMW’s full-domain 800V high-voltage platform, the new model integrates the sixth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive technology, including BMW’s large cylindrical cells, an in-house developed intelligent energy management system, and a newly designed motor assembly. Under the CLTC driving cycle, it achieves a pure-electric range exceeding 900 kilometers.
