Recently, Polestar released an advertisement that has been accused of subtly mocking Tesla. Opening with the question, “When buying an electric vehicle, what are you really choosing?” the ad lists options such as “colonizing Mars,” “fake news,” and “boring,” implying that Tesla is all style and no substance, ultimately steering consumers toward Polestar. However, the ad failed to resonate with netizens. Many pointed out that Tesla’s minimalist interior design is widely appreciated by its owners and questioned Polestar’s own sales figures and market influence. According to data, Polestar sold 60,119 vehicles globally in 2025, while Tesla—despite an 8.6% year-over-year decline—still delivered 1.636 million units, 27 times more than Polestar, and remained the top-selling EV brand in numerous countries. The ad campaign couldn’t obscure market realities: Tesla continues to hold a significant edge over Polestar in both sales volume and brand recognition.
