2026-06-22 14:11:00On June 22, Xiaomi Auto announced that its YU7 GT model completed an autonomous driving test on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, setting a new official lap record for autonomous vehicles with a time of 10 minutes 29.483 seconds—the first such officially timed lap ever recorded at the Nürburgring by a self-driving car. The vehicle completed the entire lap without any human intervention, powered by Xiaomi’s self-developed autonomous driving system, demonstrating advanced capabilities in perception, decision-making, control, and chassis coordination. Positioned as a sports-car-grade SUV, the YU7 GT starts at RMB 389,900. It is equipped with Xiaomi’s next-generation Super Motor V8s EVO, delivering a maximum output of 1,003 horsepower (738 kW), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/h and a CLTC-rated range of 705 km. Previously, driven by a professional racing driver, the same model set the fastest-ever SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes 22.755 seconds. While the autonomous lap was approximately 3 minutes and 7 seconds slower than the human-driven run, it marked a groundbreaking achievement as the first fully autonomous, officially timed lap completed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
