Recently, a manual-transmission new energy training vehicle designed specifically for driving schools has emerged. This model retains the full set of operating components and gearbox structure of a traditional fuel-powered manual-transmission vehicle, while replacing the fuel engine with electric motor drive. When the onboard computer detects a mismatch between vehicle speed and the current gear, the vehicle cuts off power output to simulate a stall, and can also simulate the juddering sensation of half-clutch engagement during startup and the shock of gear shifts. According to publicly available product specifications, the vehicle has a range of 350 kilometers and a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 101,800 yuan. Dealer test promotional videos show that its daily operating cost is one-seventh that of traditional fuel-powered training vehicles. Currently, dealers in multiple regions across China are intensively promoting and recommending this model, and some bloggers have already experienced BYD's manual-transmission electric vehicle.
