On October 28, Magna held an Innovative Technology Experience Day, showcasing its products and localized layout in the fields of electrification and intelligentization. In the powertrain field, Magna displayed three key hybrid architectures. The transverse and longitudinal dedicated hybrid drive systems adopt P1+P3 dual motors, with the engine offering two gears; the range-extender dedicated hybrid drive system adopts the P1.5 architecture, with a single motor handling both drive and power generation. For off-road vehicles, large SUVs and pickups, the front compartment can adopt the longitudinal P1+P3 hybrid drive system DHD Duo, offering 400V and 800V options, while the rear compartment is equipped with the 2-speed high-power electric drive system eDS High, with an optional electronic limited-slip differential, delivering a combined system torque of over 1,150 Nm through front-rear coordination. The Jetour G700 is equipped with this system. In the pure electric field, the eDS Duo delivers up to 240 kW; the 800V two-speed electric drive system developed specifically for the Chinese market has a maximum power of 250 kW. The Mercedes-Benz pure electric G580 is equipped with Magna's dual-motor electric drive system. In addition, Magna is laying out next-generation technologies for 2030, including high-speed PSM and ASM motors, low-rare-earth and rare-earth-free magnets, and silicon and silicon carbide power modules adapted to 400V and 800V platforms. In the intelligent driving field, Magna showcased its third-generation satellite radar, supporting two specifications of 8-transmit/8-receive and 16-transmit/16-receive, feeding analog raw signals directly into the central computing unit. Its intelligent driving solutions based on cooperation with domestic chips cover L1 and L2 requirements, and have already made their debut at a domestic OEM this year, and recently obtained an overseas nomination from another OEM. In the field of driver and occupant monitoring, Magna showcased a solution integrating the driver and occupant monitoring system (DMS/OMS) with the interior rearview mirror, featuring a built-in 5-megapixel, 140-degree wide-angle camera. This solution entered mass production in 2024, and this year obtained two nominations in Europe, with the EC glass used produced at its Taicang plant. The EU has mandated the installation of driver monitoring systems since July 7 this year, and China will require installation on L2 and above models starting January 1, 2027. In the field of door safety, Magna showcased its soft-close anti-pinch system, which can interrupt soft-closing and retract to unlock when abnormal resistance is detected, and can be extended to the front hood and tailgate. On October 10, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other departments issued a draft guideline for public comment, specifying that electric soft-close doors should have anti-pinch functionality. In terms of corporate operating data, Magna established a joint venture in Shanghai in 1996. It currently has 60 manufacturing and assembly plants and nearly 25,000 employees in China, serving more than 50 customers. In 2025, its global sales reached US$42 billion, ranking fourth among global automotive suppliers, with operations in 28 countries and regions. In 2010, Chinese domestic automakers accounted for less than 20% of its China sales, and in 2025 this reached about 60%. In terms of parts mass production, Magna's platform-based subframes cover 3 vehicle platforms and more than 20 models, with sales exceeding 1 million units in 2025, achieving a 15% weight reduction and more than 10% reduction in parts costs. Since its DCT products went into production in 2007, cumulative global sales reached 21 million units as of July this year, with cumulative sales in the Chinese market reaching 6.5 million units since 2012. The dedicated hybrid drive system DHD Duo achieved the transition from concept to production in 18 months.
